TRX
Your body. A different kind of resistance.
The Class
What to expect
TRX uses suspension straps and your own bodyweight as resistance. The straps give you a different way to practise whole-body strength, with balance and control involved throughout the movements.
Changing your body angle changes the resistance: a more upright position often makes a standing exercise easier, while a greater lean increases the challenge. Sara helps you find the right position, understand the strap set-up and keep your movement controlled. Exercises can include supported squats, rows and chest presses, depending on the session and your starting point.
Rather than isolating one muscle at a time, many suspension exercises ask the trunk to stay stable as the limbs move. You work through the range you can manage with good technique. The small-group format gives you time to learn the equipment while sharing the energy of training with around three to six people.
Is this your class?
A good choice if you enjoy bodyweight training, want variety in your strength routine and like the idea of adjusting resistance through your position. TRX can challenge experienced participants and also offer a practical starting point for someone learning suspension exercises.
You do not need previous experience with the straps, but tell Sara before your first class so she can guide your set-up. If you are unsure about grip, balance or a shoulder movement, ask about adaptations. Explore Strength if you prefer a more conventional resistance-training format.
Plan Your Session
A little preparation.
A better session.
Wear comfortable training clothes and bring water. Tell Sara about any injuries, health considerations or movements you are unsure about before the class begins. Give yourself time to settle in and ask questions before you start.
